2024 Debut Horses

We couldn’t be more excited with the bumper crop of potential Highland Yard debut runners in 2024. We break down all of them below.

North America

Mizoula - This 3 year-old filly by Zoustar was purchased at Tattersalls as a yearling. Mizoula has been in serious training with the Clements in Florida for two months and has had a series of six breezes. With any luck she will make her debut at Gulfstream Park in early February. She will be better on turf and going a route of ground. No harm in dreaming of a potential filly for the NYRA Turf Tiara races at Belmont and Saratoga this summer and fall.

Mizoula as a Yearling

Don’t Look Now - A two-year old filly by War Front out of our stakes winning mare Miss Chatelaine. She is part of a trio in pre-training at Matt Hogan Stables in Kentucky. This well bred filly is another that is likely to go to the Clements in New York. As a February foal we would be hopeful to see her debut at Saratoga this summer.

Hall Monitor - A two-year old colt by turf specialist Karakontie out of our More Than Ready mare Consort. He is median auction eligible and will start in New York with either the Clements or David Duggan. A January baby we would again be hopeful of a debut at Saratoga this summer.

Make Me - Excited for this bulky cannon-ball sprinter type by Dare Devil out of our multiple stakes winning mare Amaranth. Bred for speed he will go to David Duggan at Belmont Park. If ready in time he will be a tough out in the Maiden Sprints at Saratoga.

Mom Said - This two-year old Cal-Bred is in pre-training in Utah and will report for duty to OJ Jauregui in Northern California. A Home Bred Sir Prancealot colt out of Highland Yard mare Anais we expect a late summer early fall debut for Mom Said.

Europe

Tofino - We acquired Tofino at the Goffs yearling sale last fall. By Dandy Man out of a Teofilo mare, Tofino is already in training with Gavin Cromwell in Ireland. A very well balanced straight forward filly we would hope for a two-year old debut at the Curragh this summer.

Tofino at Goffs Orby Sale

Malpeque - How can we not be excited for this two-year old daughter of Highland Yard mare Illumined. This makes her a half sister to Royal Ascot heroine Snellen. She will go to Gavin Cromwells in Ireland with a likely fall debut in our blue and white silks.

Cant wait for the flat season and (hopefully) some Highland Yard two-year old winners!
