Euro Blitz
It has been a busy summer and fall for Highland Yard and Harvey Bloodstock in Europe. We have procured three soldiers to go to battle with in 2022. Including stable star Sunset Shiraz, we should have four horses on the turf in Ireland and France come summer.
We struck first at the Arqana sale in Deauville purchasing a striking daughter of the regally bred, first crop sire Mendelssohn. The filly caught our eye on day one of the sale and we were able to acquire her. Her 3-year-old half sister has won maiden and allowance races since the sale and looks very much a stakes horse. A video of her below.
Our next move was in Ireland at the Goffs Orby sale. We selected a sturdy looking Saxon Warrior filly out of a stakes producing Acclamation mare. Global pedigree to this filly to be sure being by a Japanese sire and an Irish mare. Here she is being led out of the sales ring.
Our final purchase was back at Goffs at the Autumn yearling sale where we purchased a value-priced daughter of Sioux Nation the precocious son of Scat Daddy.
All three fillies will be pre-trained at Winter Lodge in County Kildare under the watchful eye of Ben and Alex Harvey. Following that, the Mendelssohn filly will join Nicolas Clement’s barn in Chantilly and the other two fillies to Gavin Cromwell in County Meath.
It certainly stands to be an exciting summer in Europe with these soon to be two-year-olds.
