It’s All About the Girls - Debut Horses for 2023
Highland Yard has a number of potential debut runners for 2023 - all fillies. We will need some new soldiers given the upcoming retirement of Snicket to the breeding shed. In this post we highlight our two and three year olds that will, with some luck, make it to the winners circle this year.
The first debut runner will be Magnolia Wind our homebred daughter of Central Banker out of the Highland Yard mare Anais. She has been working regularly for trainer David Duggan at Belmont Park and is targeting a January 27th debut at Aqueduct.
Consort Royal our daughter of Mendelssohn purchased at Arqana as a yearling is a likely early spring starter. Consort Royal’s 1/2 sister Queen Goddess has won three stakes including the Grade 1 American Oaks since we acquired Consort Royal as a yearling. Training with Nicolas Clement in Chantilly, we anticipate a debut in France.

Siouxanne our bargain purchase at Goffs Ireland is a sturdy daughter of Sioux Nation and in full training with Gavin Cromwell in County Kildare. We anticipate a debut run in Ireland this spring.
Snellen is our two-year old homebred filly by the smart young sire Expert Eye. In training with Gavin Cromwell in Ireland, this is another we would hope for a late spring debut. She is bred to go a route of ground and will likely be a better three year old.
We are excited for Anisette, another homebred, this one a Cal-bred by Central Banker out of Anais. Currently being pre-trained in Utah, she will go to OJ Jauregui to run in California. With any luck she will be running at Golden Gate Fields by summer.
Perhaps the most exciting filly in this group is our yet to be named Zoustar filly out of the Irish mare Stellar Glow. Purchased at Tattersalls last October she was our pick of the sale. She has a pleasing demeanor and a fluid easy stride. The filly is in pre-training at Kismet Farm in Ocala and will go to trainer Christophe Clement in New York. We are hopeful for a summer start, perhaps at Saratoga.

Heres to a healthy and prosperous New Year to all …. and a win for each of these six debuting Highland Yard fillies
